Research Engineer (XAFCA beamline)

The Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES) and the Singapore Synchrotron Light Source (SSLS) are building an X-ray absorption facility with a special focus on catalysis (XAFCA)

The successful candidate will assist the XAFCA beamline scientist to develop the XAFCA software control system, including safety interlock, Double-Crystal Monochromator control, Mirrors control, vacuum control, Data acquisition, and beamline diagnosis. The candidate will report to the Beamline Scientist.

The candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering or related disciplines
  • Strong background of synchrotron radiation facility and familiar with XAFS facility
  • With minimum of 5 years working experience in beamline control
  • Proficiency in Labview and familiar with PLC systems
  • Familiar with mechanical design
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
